Tulsa's "Historic" Pearl District??

All -

What are your thoughts on making the 6th street commercial corridor a listed district on the National Register?

Pro's/Con's?

Has this been discussed before?

Would love to hear the history and everyone's thoughts......

Has anyone heard of the "historic underutilized business" or HUB designation??

I would want to know what limits to redevelopment would come into play with the National Register. I haven't heard of the HUB designation and would be interested in what that entails.

HUBzone applies to certain low-income census tracts, as well as areas that are historically Native American. All of Tulsa County is a HUBzone, by virtue of being in Creek and Cherokee territory. Small businesses can become HUBzone certified and qualify for Federal contract set-asides. There may also be some tax benefits.
